I like this festival. Only been there twice, but it has enough music to keep me interested…
On Friday I made the trip out to Ballinalough to see Darkside. And it was worth it.
Excellent mix of cool beats, guitar and electronics.
Here are my highlights..
John Grant
Super songs. strong willed. glad I got to see him live at last. and up close.
Gary Numan
As I expected. Very very loud. Its almost electronic metal. It is electronic metal! Good stuff.
Of Montreal
I found a good deal of Beatles infused in their music. But just doesn’t do it for me..
Buraka Som Sistema
One of the surprises of the festival. Energy. Latino Dance with Disco Beats. Superb.
Tom Vek
Slightly disappointing as I liked his releases. Interesting music though

As good as always. Top man
September Girls
Caught a bit of their set. I’ll check them out again.
Ballet School
I liked these. Very 80s, but good.
Goldfrapp
Not overly enthusiastic about Goldfrapp. She put on a good show but not for me. Some good tunes..
Caribou
Took a while to lift off for me, but super ending.. Great climax to a super weekend.
I missed Jon Hopkins & Mount Kimbie
And I also missed The Field, which I would have liked..
